Potato Pottage (Krumplifőzelék)

Simple, easy and fast pottage from Hungary with potatoes and a heavenly cream.

This is another variation of the traditional Hungarian pottage, this time from potatoes.

Prep time: 10 mins

Cook time: 25 mins 

Ingredients:

600 g Potatoes 

1 Onion

1 Clove of garlic 

200 ml Lactose free crème fraiche

1-2 Tspoon broth 

1,5 Tablespoon gluten free flour 

2-3 Bay leaves 

Marjoram 

Salt, pepper 

Step by step instructions:

1. Fry the onion and the garlic on medium heat.

2. Peal the potatoes, chop into pieces (not too small to avoid overcooking).

3. Add the potatoes, marjoram, bay leaves and fry for another 2-3 minutes. 

 

4. Add water and cook for approx. 20 minutes. Check from time to time so the potatoes don’t overcook!

5. Whisk the  creme fraiche, some water from the potatoes and the flour in a ball.

6. Add the mixture to the pottage, this will make it nice and creamy. Cook for another 3 minutes.

Serve with extra creme fraiche
